Montezuema Castle National Landmark 5 mi N of Camp Verde Arizona 928-567-3322 A twenty room cliff dwelling believed to have been built by the Sinaguas between 1100 and 1400 AD. Sharlot Hall Museum Prescott Arizona Slide Rock State Park 7 mi N of Sedona Arizona 928-282-3034 Located in Oak Creek Canyon, Slide Rock offers scenic beauty with the day use area. Smik Museum Prescott Arizona Stanton - Ghost Town "Named for Charles B Stanton" Mr Stanton kept a store and stage station and was postmaster in 1875. Later the town was an active mining camp. Remaining buildings all in fair/good condition. All are privately owned. Tiger - Ghost Town "Tiger Mine Discovered about 1870" It was said to have been the first silver mine of importance found in northern Arizona. Only foundations remain. Located on private land. Tlaquepaque (I know it's shopping ... still a pretty place!) World class shopping in a replica of an Old Mexican Village. A HoT SpoT destination. Tuzigoot National Monument near Cottonwood Arizona 928-634-5564 The name Tuzigoot is Apache for "crooked water" and the monument is home to a pre-Columbian pueblo ruin. There is also a museum of artifacts which were uncovered at the site. A HoT SpoT destination. Verde Canyon Railroad 300 N Broadway Clarkdale Arizona 800-293-7245 Offers scenic rail excursions through the majestic North Verde River Canyon and Sycamore Wilderness area. Wildlife flourishes along the route. A must do HoT Spot activity. Verde River Greenway Adjacent to Dead Horse State Park Cottonwood Arizona A cool reprieve from hot Arizona summers. Huge stands of cottonwoods. A HoT SpoT for bird watching, wildlife viewing or just relaxing. Verde Santa Fe Golf Course 1045 S. Verde Santa Fe Parkway Cottonwood Arizona 928-634-5454 Walker - Ghost Town "Named for Capt. Joseph Walker" Capt Walker led a gold expedition into the area in 1863. As a result of his success, Walker came into being. The town has a few winter residents and many summer residents. Weaver or Weaverville - Ghost Town "Named After Pauline Weaver" Pauline was a guide and the party he led accidentally discovered a rich gold find. When the gold was exhausted, the town was a hide-out for thieves and murderers. After 30 years of lawlessness the gangs were driven out and Weaver became a ghost town. Little remains except mine trails. Whiskey Row Prescott Arizona Visit the famous street of old-time saloons. Get a feel for what night life was when Prescott became the first Territorial Capital.
